17th And JFK - Nameless cart, $4, Gyro W/ Can of Mountain Dew and a bag of UTZ Cheese Curls

I chose this cart as my first review because it is my favorite for hot dogs. Mostly because of the deal they have of 2 hot dogs, a bag of chips, and a can of soda for $2.90. Plus they always have the UTZ cheese curlz with all of their MSG goodness. I normally don't order anything else here because the kid who took over a few months ago always seems clueless.

Every single time I've gotten my lunch here I have witnessed some kind of confusion about the math of the money, or the contents of someones order. These are never good signs, but the cheap prices are worth putting up with it. The cart is on the corner with its back facing Comcast and its front facing the side of Walgreens. This setup does not leave much room to walk by, let alone stand around and wait for your order. So be sure to watch out for pedestrians, your best bet is to stand in the ledge of the Walgreen's window.

Since I had decided to start doing these reviews I figured I would order something different then the hot dog special, because you would have to be a real moron to mess up a boiled hot dog. Taped to the side of the cart are hand written special cards of the most generic quality. Hotdog, Hot/Mild Sausage, Hamburger, Cheese steak, Chicken cheese steak, or Gyros with a bag of chips and either a can or bottle of soda. The prices vary from $2.90 to $5.50, and there are many more options on the side menu. Today I went with the gyro special, with a can of mountain dew, and a bag of UTZ Cheese curls. This cost me a full Four Dollars. I placed my order then waited patiently dodging pedestrians, as people with quicker orders were served ahead of me. I was given the choice of foregoing the onions, but I'm a whatever it comes with kind of guy so I left them on. The guy only had one gloved hand and one bare, and seemed to be using both for food and money. So if you're worried about germs this may not be the place for you, and I think you're a wus.

Being half Lebanese I have been eating pita bread for as long as I can remember, and I definately prefer a very thin pita, the kind sold at Bitar's in South Philly or Norma's in South Jersey. This pita was kind of thick, probably more then a centimeter, and had almost the same consistency of a compressed hamburger bun. The vegetables were fresh, but seemed to only add texture and not much flavor. The spiced meat and the tzatziki sauce were the dominate flavors, and the heated pita seemed to bring everything together. To my surprise the soft pita went extremely well with the tender meat and crisp vegetables. Except for a few hints of bitterness from the onion, every bite was delicious. The only downside was that I finished too quickly and was left only with my bag of cheese curls, which go much better with hot dogs then gyros.

Overall I will have to give this 7 out of 10 stars, Ill try to come up with some graphics and take pictures in the future.
